I love the people at the Scarlet Tree. They've got a new sound guy there now that is far better than the guy they used to have and that has made a load of difference as a performer. The stage is small but still manageable for our 8 piece band.

The crowd tends to be the "grown and sexy" crowd (45 and up), but it's built in and they are working to get the younger crowd in and it's been showing. Lots of regulars. Unfortunately the location doesn't lend well to walk-ins and the website is rarely updated for shows. I'm writing this mid march and February is still up on the website. Not so hot for promoting. Count on doing a lot of it your self and bring a crowd.

As for pay, like most venues in the Puget Sound area, the guy who walks away with the most cash is the sound guy. I can appreciate a good sound guy, but it's hard to swallow when he is walking away with a guarantee and the band gets the door. You can make a decent amount there with a good crowd, but that's Seattle for you.

The scene as I mentioned is respectful and fun they like to dance and have a good time. The bartenders are hands down AMAZING! Treat them well and they will treat you like gold. Get to know them, they're awesome!

To get two more stars, here's what I would recommend: Consistently have a good sound guy, get rid of the guy that sucks. Promote Promote Promote. With a hidden venue it's imperative to drive people there. The band can only do so much.
