In the small world of Rochester music venues, Lovin' Cup has got it all figured out. Run by a team of fervent live music lovers, this venue outshines most in the area.

Opening its doors just a few years ago, Lovin' Cup has a sound business approach to live music. Having built a venue that is -at the same time- music venue, coffee shop, full bar, AND restaurant, they seem to have answered the issue so many other Rochester live music establishments have suffered with: how do I host great live music and remain profitable year round?

I've heard it explained by a manager that Lovin' Cup loves each role it fulfills equally- providing the same quality of service as baristas, bar tenders and cooks, this venue manages to attract a large and diverse population of consumers. Come for the food, stay for the show! Come for the beer, stay for the food! The possibilities are endless, but one thing's for sure- Lovin' Cup's doors will stay open for a very long time.

I've found the management and owners to be very supportive of local acts, and willing to work with you in promoting a successful show. I've recommended this venue to private parties and fundraisers. Every time they've treated our fans with dignity and respect.

There was one 'growing pain' a while back concerning door charge and timing. Basically, many of our fans were admitted to the show free of charge because they came early. I voiced my concerns to their management, who immediately apologized and worked to fix the situation. We haven't had any issues since.

I understand that Lovin' Cup has recently gone to a door deal with acts, and has done away with guarantees. This puts them in direct competition with a new venue in the area that has a big budget and willingness to pay flat fees: Sticky Lips Juke Joint. Another issue is simply with location. Most of our inner-Rochester fan base is adverse to driving all the way out there to watch a show...especially when there are closer venues to the city. This means you better have a strong RIT connection or you might just find yourself playing to an empty room.

Lovin' Cup's success as a venue and willingness to work with the bands and take constructive criticism shows that they've also adopted a symbiotic approach to the music scene: we're all in this together and can only survive if we're all strong. I would highly recommend Lovin' Cup if you're looking for a venue for a special occasion or just to rock your fans socks off!
